INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – An Indianapolis man who fired shots in a drive-by shooting that killed a 1-year-old girl back in 2018 has been sentenced to 53 years in prison.

Darrin Banks was found guilty of murder and battery using a deadly weapon in September.

The shooting happened on North Wittfield Street around 2 a.m. on March 29, 2018. A bullet from the spray of gunfire killed Malaysia and injured an adult woman.

Malaysia Robson, 1, did not survive.

IMPD eventually arrested Brian Palmer and Darrin Banks. Both men reportedly confessed to the shooting saying it stemmed from a fight that started on Facebook involving women they knew who were arguing with each other.

Palmer is scheduled to go to trial next month.
