INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — A man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital overnight after slamming into the back of a flatbed trailer on I-465 eastbound near I-65 on the south side.

The wreck happened just before 3 a.m. when a man driving a Honda Civic wasn't paying attention and rear-ended the trailer in a construction zone south of the Emerson Avenue exit.

When he hit the trailer, it was parked on the side of the road and the hood of his car ended up underneath it.

It took firefighters an hour to extricate the driver before medics transported to the hospital where he is stable.
