Man injured in northeast Indianapolis apartment fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - One man was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out at a northeast Indianapolis apartment building.

Firefighters say a carpet remnant pile sparked the blaze on Wingate Court in the Spanish Oaks Apartments around 11:30 p.m. Friday. According to IFD, heavy smoke got into the apartments near the fire.

A 55-year-old man was taken to Eskenazi Health with possible smoke inhalation. His condition is not known at this time.

Ten occupants of apartments affected by the fire were displaced, according to IFD. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
