Man dies near downtown Indianapolis after apparent southeast side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Metro Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left a man dead just east of downtown Indianapolis.

According to IMPD, a driver saw the man near Pine and Washington streets just before 3 a.m. Thursday and flagged down an officer. The officer called for medics, who pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives began their investigation, and they believe the shooting may have occurred in the area of English Avenue and Gray Street, approximately a five-minute drive from where the victim was found.

The man has not been identified.
