INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - A man died after he was pulled from inside a burning house on the southeast side of Indianapolis Sunday morning.

Fire crews were called to a house on Apple Street near Southeastern Ave. and Sherman Drive around 8:20 a.m. and found the house on fire with the man inside.

Rescue crews performed CPR on the man before he went by ambulance to Eskenazi Hospital. He died at the hospital. He has not been identified.

A firefighter fell through the roof of the single-story house and was also taken to Eskenazi in good condition. IFD spokesperson Rita Reith said the man landed on a fellow firefighter who was not hurt.

Investigators have not determined what caused the fire. They estimate damage at $40,000.
