You've watched Blue dance along the sidelines at the Indianapolis Colts home games for years.

When the NFL mascot isn't playing entertainer at Lucas Oil Stadium, he's playing teacher at one of hundreds of schools he visits around the state weekly.

Now, the big blue, furry character adds author to his plate.

Eyewitness News Reporter Carrie Cline caught up with the man behind the suit who's sharing his latest passion with the world.

"We want Blue! We want Blue!" chanted hundreds of schoolchildren at Newby Elementary School in Mooresville.

It's a chant Blue hears almost daily as he performs more than 120 school shows around the state, talking subjects like nutrition and fitness.

But, now Blue is introducing a new show, years in the making. He got a little help from his alter ego, Trey Mock.

"I'm from Georgia and before I moved here, and I thought it's going to be cornfields and in the middle of it, there's going to be a stadium," Mock said. "I knew nothing about Indiana. So, by traveling the state through all of our school shows, I learned that Indiana has a lot to offer and is an amazing state."

And "Blue's Road Trip Through Indiana" was born.

"Looking at it right now, it's surreal," Mock said. "It was always on my bucket list of something cool to do in life, but I never thought it would happen. But, I'm really proud of it. I'm proud of this program, this organization and the character we've been able to develop over the years."

The children's book is an A-Z tour around the state. It's Trey's...wait...Blue's favorite places.  Celebrity readers like Kalen Irsay and Gov. Mike Pence do the talking while Blue does the goofing.

"Grissom Air Museum," Pence reads. "Grissom Air Museum is the place to go. If you like aviation, there's a lot you should know."

From Pokagon State Park's Tobaggon Run and ample snow for snowball fights to a bike ride along the Monon Trail in Indianapolis, Blue's adventures are full of fun, and the book is just the beginning.

"Indiana, to me, is so proud of who we, the people we are, the places we have and I want the kids to read something and go out and see it for themselves and I think that's going to be powerful," Mock said.

And when the children and their families go out to explore these places or other fun sites in Indiana, Blue wants to go with you. At the back of the book, there's a cutout. Think Flat Chuck. This is Flat Blue. You take a photo with Flat Blue and then post to his social media sites to show him where you're visiting.

The Irsay family is making sure every school library gets a copy of Blue's book.
