(WTHR) — Today, the man accused of killing Boone County Deputy Jacob Pickett is expected in court.

This is one of several hearings for Anthony Baumgardt, the man who allegedly shot and killed Pickett during a police chase back in March.

Since then, it's been a process to try and find justice for the deputy's murder.

Back in April, Baumgardt found out he could face the death penalty if he's found guilty.

Then in June, his lawyers filed a request to change the trial venue.

That likely won't be decided until a hearing next March.

Baumgardt's original trial was set to take place back in July. But now, it's been pushed back until August of 2020.

Baumgardt has repeatedly told reporters he has no remorse for his actions. And at one point, he actually asked the judge for the death penalty himself.
