ANDERSON, Ind. (WTHR) - A jury in Madison County has convicted a man in the beating death of a small child.

Ryan Ramirez was convicted Tuesday of murder in the death of his girlfriend's 23-month-old daughter, Paisley Hudson. He was also found guilty of neglect of a dependent causing serious injury to 3-year-old Riley Hudson. The crimes happened on July 28, 2018.

Ramirez will learn Wednesday if he will be sentenced to life in prison without parole for the crimes, our partners at the Anderson Herald Bulletin reported.

Paisley Hudson's mother, Kayla, took her to the hospital after saying she found her unresponsive and cold at their home. The girl died at the hospital minutes after arriving. Court documents say the child had bruises and other trauma to her body.

Kayla Hudson pleaded guilty to a neglect charge last March in her daughter's death. She received a combined sentence of 40 years in prison.
