LIVE BLOG: Funeral service for Lt. Aaron Allan

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Follow the coverage of Saturday's funeral for Southport Police Lt. Aaron Allan.

5:47 p.m. - Bagpipers play to end the ceremony as people continue to lay carnations on their way out.

5:30 p.m. - Mourners lay carnations on Allan's casket as they file out of Crown Hill Cemetery.

5:27 p.m. - Officers present allan's wife, Stacy, with the flag that was draped over his casket.

5:18 p.m. - Pallbearers have removed Allan's casket from the caisson and taken him to his final resting place.

5:05 p.m. - The honor guard is preparing to remove the flag from Allan's casket as graveside ceremonies begin.

4:37 p.m. - The hearse has arrived at the cemetery to lay Lt. Allan in his final resting place.

4:23 p.m. - The cars leading the procession are beginning to arrive at Crown Hill. The entire line of cars is about 2.5 miles long.

4:05 p.m. - The procession is going through downtown on its way back to Crow Hill. After running into a bit of traffic, the graveside ceremony is running behind schedule. Mourners are already gathered.

3:26 p.m. - Lt. Aaron Allan has answered his final call at the Southport Police Department. The procession will now continue on to Crown Hill Cemetery.

3:15 p.m. - The procession is arriving at the Southport Police Department. The community lined the streets to show their respects.

2:50 p.m. - WTHR's Rich Van Wyk is at Crown Hill Cemetery. He says the procession is expected to arrive around 4 p.m.

2:34 p.m. - The firing party prepares for the graveside ceremony at Crown Hill.

2:19 p.m. - The procession from Bankers Life Fieldhouse to Southport Police Department has begun. American flags fly near Crown Hill Cemetery, where Allan will be buried.

1:27 p.m. - People are beginning to gather for the procession of Allan's body from Banker's Life Fieldhouse down to the Southport Police Department for the final call ceremony.

1:05 p.m. - A video tribute featuring the song "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban plays. Photos of tributes, around the city cycle through the video. As the service wraps up, mourners will prepare for the procession back to Crown Hill Cemetery.

12:53 p.m. - Dr. Holland gives a message to mourners. Meanwhile, everything appears to be ready for mourners to come to interment at Crown Hill Cemetery once the funeral service is complete.

12:43 p.m. - Another musical tribute, "Boy" by Lee Brice plays in remembrance of Lt. Allan.

12:40 p.m. - Members of the Marion County Sheriff's Department share memories of their time with Lt. Allan. Sergant Christopher Berry, Deputy Lonnie Helton, Deputy Robert Lane and Lt. John Livingston remember their fond times with the fallen officer.

12:33 p.m. - Lt. Bryan Wolf performs a musical tribute to Lt. Allan, singing "Amazing Grace."

12:30 p.m. - The last to give acknowledgements, Southport Police Chief Tom Vaughn is emotional saying goodbye to one of his officers and friends.

12:26 p.m. - Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett just finished at the podium, giving remarks to a crowd of around 2,000 people.

12:20 p.m. - Southport Mayor Russell McClure speaks at the podium before personally addressing Allan's family. He gave Allan's son, Aaron Jr. a token.

12:12 p.m. - Indiana Senator Joe Donnely follows Holcomb in giving remarks to mourners.

12:03 p.m. - Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb has taken the podium to give acknowledgements. After leaving the podium, Holcomb personally spoke to Allan's wife before taking his seat.

12:01 p.m. - A musical tribute to the song "Sirens" by Joe Banua is playing as mourners reflect.

11:43 a.m. - Dr. Holland has begun the eulogy.

11:33 a.m. - Services are underway. IMPD Chaplain Patricia Holman opened the service, followed by the invocation from Dr. Chris Holland, Pastor of The Father's House Church and a recording of the song "Back to God" by Reba McIntyre.

11:00 a.m. - Police officers are filing past Lt. Aaron Allen's casket as his funeral service is about to begin at Banker's Life Fieldhouse.

10:15 a.m. - Lt. Allan's wife, Stacy, and his family have arrived at Banker's Life Fieldhouse.

10:00 a.m. - The funeral service for Lt. Aaron W. Allan will be led by Senior Chaplain Patricia Holman of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

8:45 a.m. - Community support for the Allan family includes a collection box at Long's Donuts in Southport, where Allan served as a full-time officer.

8:40 a.m. - Police are coordinating escorts for officers and others attending Lt. Allan's funeral. Pennsylvania St. is shut down in front of Banker's Life Fieldhouse. Allan's family will be escorted directly to the fieldhouse.

Traffic from downtown to Southport and back to Crown Hill along Illinois Street will be blocked this afternoon after the funeral.

7:40 a.m. - Lt. Allan's procession has arrived at Banker's Life Fieldhouse for his 11:00 a.m. service.

7:20 a.m. - Carnations to be worn upside down by police officers today. Each flower will have a red dot symbolizing blood shed for the community. Each officer will place their carnation on Allan's casket as they file past.

7:15 a.m. - The funeral procession for Southport Police Lt. Aaron Allan has left Crown Hill, headed to Banker's Life Fieldhouse.

WTHR reporters Anna Carrera and Carlos Diaz are covering this morning's procession that will carry Lt. Allan from Crown Hill down Meridian St. to Banker's Life Fieldhouse for his funeral, which is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

Bannors honoring Lt. Allan are hanging outside the WTHR studios on Meridian Street, where Allan's funeral procession will pass this morning, and on Illinois Street, where the procession back to Crown Hill will pass this afternoon.

Carlos reports banners are already out recognizing Lt. Allan at the fieldhouse.
