INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Indianapolis got beat out for a huge Eli Lilly investment, even though the company is based here.

On Tuesday, the pharmaceutical giant announced it is building a new manufacturing facility in North Carolina instead. The move will create 460 jobs in the area.

Indianapolis and Philadelphia were among the other locations considered for the plant.

Indianapolis is still seeing hefty investment. The company announced a $400 million plan last fall at the Technology Center in Indianapolis. 100 jobs are expected to result.
