LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Ind. (WTHR) – A police K-9 for Lawrence Township will be receiving a special honor next week.

K-9 Axel will be honored by the Board of Education of the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township during a board meeting April 22.

Axel was bred in the Netherlands and learned commands in Dutch as well as silent hand signals. Axel has also been deployed in Afghanistan with the U.S. military for two tours as a patrol and narcotics detection K-9.
