Lawrence police investigate deadly shooting at Pendleton Pike shopping plaza


LAWRENCE, Ind. (WTHR) - One person is dead after a shooting in Lawrence Friday night.

Police were called to a complaint of shots fired at Esquire Plaza on Pendleton Pike at about 6:30 p.m.

Arriving officers found a person shot in the parking lot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

About 30 minutes later, another person walked into Community North Hospital saying he was also shot at the location. Police say that victim was hit in the shoulder and has non-life-threatening injuries.

"Witnesses told us that two groups of individuals started firing shots at each other in the parking lot and then some fled on foot and some fled in vehicles," said Lawrence Deputy Police Chief Gary Woodruff.

Police are working identify those who left the scene and to determine how many people fired shots.
