Lake County authorities looking for murder suspect from Indianapolis

GARY, Ind. (WTHR) – The Lake County Homicide Unit is asking for the public's help identifying a suspect who is believed to be from Indianapolis.

On March 23, 2019, 13-year-old Lavell Edmond and his mother, Temia Haywood, were murdered in their home on East 3rd Avenue in Gary.

Police said one of the suspects, Darren “Duke” Taylor of Hammond, IN, has been charged in the murders but the second suspect has not been identified.

The suspect is a black male who is about 5 feet 9 inches tall. Authorities said the suspect has a distinct profile and appears to have chin-length braids coming out of the right side of his hoodie.
