Lafayette Police arrest 2 on drug and gun charges

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WTHR) - Police investigating a child custody case found guns and drugs instead.

Now, Darryl Evans 31, and Peyton Cruea 37 are in the Tippecanoe County Jail facing charges.

Lafayette Police say they were called to 3216 Crosspoint Court North just before 7:00 p.m Friday night to check on the well being of a child in a custody dispute.

When officers arrived they could smell marijuana coming from inside the residence.

After getting a search warrant, the police found almost 4 pounds of marijuana, 6 schedule two pills, 7 guns with a large amount of ammunition, and $68,227.00 in cash.

Darryl Evans was arrested on four preliminary charges:

  • Dealing marijuana
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Maintaining a common nuisance
  • Possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon

Peyton Cruea also faces four preliminary charges:
