ASHLAND, Ky. (WTHR) – Sometimes you just have to work with what you have but officers for the Ashland Police Department thought it was about time a young boy got an upgrade.

The boy was using a makeshift basketball hoop to practice his skills. The hoop was made of plywood and a plastic crate.

With the help of the local Walmart and a few officers, the boy received a brand new basketball hoop.

The Ashland Police Department shared the act of kindness on Facebook Monday.

"We wanted to brag on our officers who helped a young man acquire a much needed upgrade today," wrote the department. "While we appreciate the creativity, his basketball hoop was not adequate for his skills."
