Kokomo woman battling cancer wins $77,777 with scratch-off


INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Seven may be Marilyn Dunlap's lucky number.

Marilyn and her husband both enjoy playing Hoosier Lottery games.

On June 7, her husband bought a $5 '7' scratch-off. With that ticket, he won $77,777.

He gave that ticket to Marilyn who has been battling cancer. She retired from driving school buses, which she loved, to deal with her cancer treatment.

Marilyn and her daughters drove to Indianapolis the following day to claim their prize.

Marilyn said she is planning a trip to California with her grandson, who just graduated from IUPUI.Thanks to the prize money, the trip is paid for in full.
