Kokomo police seek suspects who fired at clerk during robbery getaway

KOKOMO, Ind. (WTHR) - Police in Kokomo are searching for a pair of robbery suspects who fired a gun at a store clerk Friday.

The robbery happened at the One Stop Express on North Washington Street around 4:15 p.m. Witnesses told police two men entered the business, with one approaching the counter while the other stayed by the door.

When the man by the counter tried to steal a display case, the clerk engaged him in a struggle. The suspect eventually got out of the store with the case.

As the clerk began chasing the fleeing suspects, one of the men fired a shot at the clerk. Witnesses say the men ran to the area near Monroe Street and got into a black mid-size SUV with tinted windows, which drove east on Monroe toward Washington.

No one was injured. An undisclosed amount of cellular phone and CBD accessories were stolen in the robbery.
