Kokomo man killed in police-involved shooting in Wabash County

WABASH COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - A Kokomo man was killed in a police-involved shooting in northern Indiana Wednesday afternoon.

State police say deputies from Wabash and Huntington counties responded to a tip from the public about an alleged robbery suspect out of Huntington County around 4:20 p.m. They found the 29-year-old male suspect in a pick-up truck in a field near CR 400 North near CR 500 East in Wabash County.

Preliminary investigation shows the man was armed with a shotgun. A short time later, an incident led to three Wabash County deputies and a Huntington County deputy firing gunshots at the man, striking him.

Paramedics attempted to save the man's life, but he died of the injuries from the gunshot wounds. His name has not yet been released.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
