KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. (WTHR) - Knightstown is investigating what turned out to be a deadly fire from Thursday.

Crews responded to 38 West Warrick Street on a structure fire and found a fully-involved blaze, with the resident not accounted-for.

Crews from Spiceland, Greensboro, Kennard, Shirley, Wilkinson, and Charlottesville were all called in for assistance.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal's office was contacted to investigate on the possibility that the man who lived there may have been in the building during the fire.

The search was suspended due to extensive heat, smoke, and other hazardous conditions, and resumed Saturday.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., K-9s located human remains.

Identification will be confirmed by the Henry County Coroners office.

Knightstown Fire Chief Eric McDaniel did not speculate on whether the body found Saturday was the missing resident.
