ELWOOD, Ind. (WTHR) — Elwood's only general merchandise store is closing at the end of the year.

According to our partners at The Herald Bulletin, the Kmart store in Elwood will start its liquidation sale later this month and close by mid-December.

Along with Elwood, Kmart stores will also be closing in Kokomo, Richmond and Valparaiso.

The company is owned by Sears, which is taking steps to try to avoid bankruptcy.

After the four closings, the Warsaw store will be the only Kmart in Indiana.
