MUNCIE, Ind. (WTHR) - Just a few days before Christmas, five Muncie children were awoken to an intruder in their living room. The kids, who are between the ages of 2 and 11, were startled to see a stranger in their home in the early hours on Monday morning. The Delaware County Sheriff's office is calling the incident that occurred on West Moore road “shocking.”

When the children noticed the intruder, one of the texted their mom to say there was someone in the house and they were frightened.

When their parents received the text message the dad came downstairs to find 52-year-old Allen Karns in his kitchen drinking his beer and eating his food. Nothing was taken from the home.

Thankfully, Karns was not aggressive and when confronted left the premise. Police say when they found him he was traveling by foot, staggering and believed he was at the fairgrounds even though he was about two miles away.

He is currently in custody and his bond has been set to $5,000.

There was no sign of forced entry into the Muncie home and police are reminding resident to secure all ports of entry into their home.
