Kansas town holds Christmas early for boy with terminal cancer

LEBO, Ks. (KSNT-TV) - It may still be 102 days until Christmas. but for a small town in Kansas, the season arrived early last weekend.

The town of Lebo has rallied around a special 3-year-old named Christian, a boy who may not make it to the next holiday.

"For our family, this very well may be the last holiday we have with him and to be able to have it early and to have the love and support of the community is a huge blessing to all of us," said Christian's Mom, Sarah.

After decorating their homes, the small community came together Sunday night to make Christmas for Christian.

"I wanted the family to be able to make some amazing memories with their son in the time that they have left and to enjoy it and look back and see good times," said Kelly Freund, who organized the special September holiday.

Hundreds of people from Lebo brought food and music.

While they're grateful for the support, Christian's parents aren't surprised. They say this is Lebo. "Lebo is always there to help when people need it," Sarah said. "This whole town has come together and hasn't even batted an eye."

After the food, everyone gathered in the church to wish Christian a merry Christmas.
