PHOENIX (WTHR) - Country music star Jason Aldean took time out of his schedule Friday to visit a woman who wasn't expected to survive the Las Vegas shooting last October.

Jovanna Calzadillas and her husband were at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival October 1 when a gunman fired into the crowd, killing 58 people. She was shot in the head and doctors did not think she would live.

Six months later, Calzadillas is continuing her remarkable recovery and Friday, the couple got a special visit from Aldean at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix.

Aldean, who was the headliner at the Las Vegas music festival, is in Phoenix for the Country Thunder music festival this weekend. In the weeks following the Las Vegas shooting, he visited survivors in the hospital and dedicated a performance on "Saturday Night Live" to those killed and wounded in the assault.
