Jackie Joyner-Kersee joins hundreds of women for morning workout downtown

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - There was an Olympic feel to an early morning workout on the downtown canal.

We're told more than 2,000 women showed up for it.

That included Olympic track and field stars Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Aretha Thurmond and Sharrieffa Barksdale.

They're encouraging women to take care of their health and stay fit.

We asked Jackie Joyner-Kersee about her memories of competing here in Indianapolis.

"You know, the 1988 Olympic trials and setting a world record here, there's a lot of great memories and to me, it's just a beautiful city, you've seen the growth and you see people come from all over," she said.

Jackie Joyner-Kersee and all the ladies you saw working out are in town the Links Incorporated National Assembly.
