IUPUI authorities lifted the campus' "shelter-in-place" order Tuesday afternoon.

The alert was originally issued for the IUPUI campus after a person was seen with a gun near campus.

The university issued the following alert shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday:

IUPUI Alert! A subject with a Gun has been reported running toward the IUPUI campus from the 700 Blk of Blake St. If you are on campus, trust your instincts and take safe shelter in the nearest available room. Lock the door if possible. Remain in place until the police or a campus administrator known to you gives the ALL CLEAR. Call 911 if you have information about the armed person. If you are not on campus, stay away. Follow instructions from university officials or local authorities. For available information and updates on this incident visit emergency.iu.edu

Metro police say an armed robbery was reported in the 700 block of Blake Street Tuesday afternoon. No one was injured, but the caller to 911 said a cell phone and wallet were stolen.

The university later tweeted a description of the suspect:

Eyewitness News has a crew en route to the scene and will update this story as more details are confirmed.
