IU alerts freshmen after Spierer disappearance

BLOOMINGTON - Indiana University is alerting its new students who are preparing to arrive on campus about potential dangers in the wake of Lauren Spierer's disappearance.

Spierer disappeared near the Bloomington campus June 3rd. There's been no break in the case after weeks of intense searching and hundreds of tips to police.

The letter from IU's provost says, "During New Student Orientation, you will learn more about IU's programs and the measures that can and should be taken to increase your level of personal safety. I urge you to take seriously these messages and to incorporate these recommendations and behaviors into your daily life."
