It's back to school Wednesday for five Central Indiana school districts

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Summer vacation is over for more than 37,000 students in Central Indiana.

Wednesday marks the first day of the 2016-2017 school year for four Central Indiana school districts, thanks to the balanced calendar.

More than 9,000 students start school at the Avon Community School Corporation.

The district includes seven elementary schools, two intermediate schools, two middle schools, and one high school.

New this year, the district is offering a free bus tracking program for families, called Here Comes the Bus, allowing a real-time location of the bus during the route.

More than 6,300 students return to Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation, which includes five elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, an academy and a preschool.

In the MSD of Decatur Township, more than 6,200 students start a new school year Wednesday.

District leaders have put together a back-to-school guide.

Nearly 15,000 students also head back to class Wednesday in the Perry Township School District.

8,700 students at Franklin Township Schools also return to class Wednesday.
