INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The Indiana Pacers are still thinking about taking a shot at the 2021 NBA All-Star game.

The Pacers are one of more than a dozen teams that have expressed interest in bidding for the game. The bids are due in late April.

Bill Benner with Pacers Sports and Entertainment said they were going over the specs to make sure they meet the requirements and would be competitive.

Benner said Lucas Oil Stadium is being eyed as the venue given how many fans it could accommodate.

The last time Indy hosted the All-Star game was 1985 at the Hoosier Dome. Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and Pacers President Larry Bird were among those who played.

Since then, the game has evolved into three-day event with a fan-fest, rookie game and many other activities.

"It'd be a great event that would attract world-wide publicity," Benner said. "And this is what we do, we do basketball."
