INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Students received a great welcome back to school at an IPS school on the east side.

They had a special "All Women High-5 Rally" at the Anna Brochhausen School 88 this morning.

We've seen high five rallies like this before but never one with all women greeting the kids.

Interim Superintendent Aleesia Johnson joined other ladies in the community for this special women's edition of the event.

She said it's important for the kids to see women encouraging them too.

"When we look at our students, often times it's helpful for them to see and really feel that there are a lot of folks in this community who are cheering for them, who are rooting for their success," said Johnson.

The women are planning to replicate what the men have been doing with these high five rallies.

And they're hoping to take them to more schools after today.
