Investigators can 'virtually' revisit crime scenes with sheriff's new 3D scanner

FRANKLIN, Ind. (WTHR) - It's a tool the sheriff's office in Johnson County says will boost their ability to investigate crimes and crashes.

They've now got a 3D scanner. It gives detectives a 360-degree view of any scene.

They're able to collect and process evidence much more quickly, and it allows them to "virtually" revisit any scene through its computer software.

Johnson County paid about $64,000 for the technology.

Officers hope to have it ready to use this week.
