INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Expect to see new streetlights around Indy's northeast side starting today.

IPL plans to install 24 new LED lights along Shadeland Avenue between 75th and 82nd Streets as part of 'Operation Night Light.'

The goal of this latest initiative is to make the area safer, so Indianapolis leaders are taking more steps to try to reduce the violence seen around the city.

They're hoping that by shedding a little light on some of the areas hit hard by crime will help out.
