SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WTHR - Indy Car driver Jack Harvey has some new fans for life.

They got to share a special moment on the yard of bricks at the Speedway on Thursday.

We were there as Harvey tied his shoelaces alongside 6-year-old William. They had formed a special bond after meeting at a Children's Theraplay event.

"A few weeks ago he said he couldn't really do it," Harvey said. "I sat, he showed me and maybe when he was put on the spot a little bit he nailed it. Since then he's been able to do it really well."

"Will came back for therapy the day after Horsepower and he tied his shoes like he'd been doing it his whole life. Acted like it was no big deal and did it super fast. And I was blown away. I thought it would take us several more months to get there. The boost of confidence to have such amazing people rally around him and celebrate him through this experience is also going to be something that stays with him forever," said Emily Thomas, William's mother.

William even signed Harvey's shirt and gave him a horse shoe for good luck!
