CARMEL, Ind. (WTHR) — IndyCar drivers traded in their race cars for blow-up horses at Children's TherAplay Foundation's fourth annual #HorsePower500.

The "horse race" is a fundraising event that brings awareness to equine-assisted physical and occupational therapies — the foundation's speciality.

Race car drivers Oliver Askew, Eddie Cheever Jr., Zachary Claman, Conor Daly, Scott Dixon, Marcus Ericsson, Jack Harvey, James Hinchcliffe, Kyle Kaiser, Charlie Kimball, Ryan Norman, Spencer Pigot, and Graham Rahal were all in attendance at Monday's event.

Each were paired with one of the kids currently receiving treatment at Children's TherAplay. The foundation also held a groundbreaking for a $3.6 million capital campaign project which includes a new facility.

“Today, is a very exciting day in Children’s TherAplay’s nineteen-year history,” said Craig Dobbs, Children’s TherAplay Founder and past Board President. “As we break ground on a new standard for equine-assisted physical and occupational therapy right here in Carmel Indiana, we recognize this new clinic is the result of countless parent’s desire for their children to have access to innovative equine therapy in pursuit of an independent future. Every aspect of this facility was designed to maximize quality of care for the children we serve and those who will need us in the future.”

Following the groundbreaking, the races began.

Although all the drivers and their teammates were up for the challenge, Kyle Kaiser and his 4-year-old teammate, Charlie Comer, came out on top. Charlie attends TherAplay for physical and occupational therapy.
