INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Construction work will affect your drive downtown starting the week after Easter.

The work is the first project to get underway as part of an ambitious summer construction plan announced earlier in April.

INDOT crews will shut down sections of both Interstate 65 and Interstate 70 as part of the repaving project.

The work will be done in four segments. Crews will first close the northbound lanes of I-65 between Southport Road and I-465, then I-65 from I-465 up to the South Split, followed by I-65/I-70 from the South Split to the North Split.

The fourth segment of the project will close I-70 westbound from the South Split to Belmont Avenue.

Crews will work one side of the interstates at a time, starting with the northbound lanes. When the crews are working on the northbound lanes, expect a full closure from 9 p.m. Fridays until 6 a.m. Mondays.

Southbound work will run from 7 p.m. on Fridays until 3 p.m. on Mondays.

The repaving of the northbound lanes is expected to finish in June, with the entire project wrapped up by August.
