BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - An Indianapolis woman is now facing serious charges after taking off part of her swimsuit and throwing it at a deputy.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office says deputies were talking to 55-year-old Kimberly Swindell on the 4th of July when she started taking off her swimsuit, throwing part of the suit off and hitting a deputy in the face with it.

Officers believe alcohol was involved.

Swindell was booked into jail on several charges, including battery on a public safety official.

It was the second time a Bartholomew County deputy was struck by a suspect during the holiday. The sheriff's department said Deputy Leah Burton was flagged down for a disturbance at a mobile home park July 4. When she investigated police say a man identified as Kevin Ferrell of Elizabethtown struck her in the face and spat on her.

“Batteries on our deputies must stop," said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers. “It is my responsibility to make sure deputies return home safely to their families at the end of their shift.”
