INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — This brutal weather is sure to cause problems for people, and even pets, but your electrical power system will also take a hit.

IPL and Duke Energy, Indiana's two largest power companies, both say they can produce enough electricity to meet this weekend's anticipated demands.

A spokesperson at IPL spoke positively ahead of the weekend heat, saying, "we're looking great."

Duke Energy expects to have surplus power, and if they happen to run short, they can purchase electricity from other utilities.

If you are without air conditioning or your power goes out, you can find relief at cooling centers around central Indiana.
