Indianapolis Home Show: Centerpiece Home

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Saturday’s spring-like sun has people thinking about ways to spruce up their house, just in time for this weekend's kickoff to the Indianapolis Home Show. The Centerpiece Home is in the Expo Hall at the state fairgrounds.

From outside, you can tell it's a little bit country and a little bit something else, definitely more modern. Its inviting look helps you feel right at home.

“Everything starts with a good landscape design,” said Jim Calvin, from Calvin Landscape. “This is our 20th year out here at the Indianapolis Home Show and it's fantastic. Feels like spring.”

There are more than a thousand plants dotting the landscape, including tulips, trees and other greenery too. The backyard looks ready to host a big get-together and there are even more surprises inside. One of the most memorable spots is the nursery, which is also known as the pink sparkle room. There are all kinds of personal touches and people say it reminds them of when they had a child. It also has pink glitter wallpaper.

Also upstairs, there is an area where kids can gather on the second floor. The open concept also carries through to the first floor, where the living room and kitchen flow right into each other. A palette of neutral tones combine a natural feel with contemporary pieces, which were all put together by the interior decorator who has you in mind.

“I like to add in things people can do themselves and add in their own home because I think that's why people come to this show, to do things that will work for them and be liveable,” said Macara Carsley, who is the interior designer.

There is a master bedroom on the main floor, which is also a nice retreat.

“This luxurious room, it's massive,” said Brad Kriner of Fischer Homes, who built the home. “The bathroom, the bedroom, it all bleeds together and it's an amazing space. Maybe you can stay inside, watch some tv, read a book, take a bath.”

The show is sure to leave you with plenty of ideas for your own home. The Indianapolis Home Show runs through next weekend. For ticket prices, dates and times, click here à
