Indianapolis firefighters called to junkyard fire on southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - An Indianapolis Fire Department engine on the way to a medical run reported a fire in the 1000 block of Earhart Street where multiple vehicles were on fire in a junkyard just before 12:30 a.m Sunday.

Sixteen IFD units were dispatched to the southeast side location and arrived to find heavy fire showing from at least eight vehicles.

Shortly after arriving a foam truck was requested to assist in controlling the fire and to get it out quicker. The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.

There were no injuries and there is no estimate on damages at this time.
