Indiana Youth Institute: How childhood trauma impacts future health

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - What happens in our childhood can have a huge impact on who we become.

Tami Silverman, president and CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute, joined us on Eyewitness News at Noon Monday to explain what these Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are.

According to Silverman, they can range from divorce to the death of a parent, witnessing domestic violence or disruptions in the family's income. Studies have shown a connection between such events and your child's risk for chronic disease as they grow up.
