INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Before all the rain started falling on Sunday afternoon, another tradition at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway took place at the Pagoda Plaza.

Dozens of men and women took part in an enlistment ceremony, representing each branch of the military. They took the oath to serve their country in front of IMS President Doug Boles, their families and everyone else who watched from the yard of bricks.

Air Force Lieutenant General Arnold Bunch Jr., who is the Military Deputy of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition at the Pentagon, spoke during the ceremony. This weekend was his first time at the track.

"The ceremony is great," said Lt. General Bunch. "It's always great to do things in a joint environment and it's always great to have the community here, to have leadership around something that's as significant to this community as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway be a part of and have the services all together. It's really a testament to professionalism and being dedicated."
