DECATUR, Ill. (WTHR) - Masks are on statues in downtown Decatur to honor front line pandemic workers.

The Decatur Area Arts Council and Community Foundation of Macon County worked with the City of Decatur to install fabric masks on statues on Wednesday, according to NBC affiliate WAND.

The masks pay tribute and offer thanks to first responders, healthcare workers, grocery and convenience store clerks, restaurant staff, and other essential workers, according to officials.

The masks will remain on the statues for several weeks.
