INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Firefighters battling a vacant fire did make one rescue Tuesday afternoon and it was caught on video.

IFD tweeted video from a camera mounted on a firefighter as they went into the home on Houston Street, near E. 34th Street and N. Sherman Drive, around 4 p.m. Tuesday. As the firefighter entered the home, a cat can be heard meowing. The firefighter quickly finds the kitten, scoops it up and carries it out to safety.

Another video tweeted by the department shows a firefighter holding the kitten outside of the home.

IFD says the home sustained heavy fire damage, but no injuries were reported. After the kitten was given oxygen and checked out, a neighbor took it to their home.
