NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) — Ice Skating returns to Noblesville for another holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Federal Hill Commons Ice Plaza.

"The ice skating rink has become a new holiday tradition in Downtown Noblesville," Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear said in a news release.

The rink is 56 feet by 100 feet and is ideal for children and adults alike.

But inexperienced skaters who don't bring their own skates need to keep safety in mind.

While falls may happen, a crucial part that will keep your ankles safe comes from picking the right skates and lacing up.

“Hockey skates run different than your shoe size and you want them nice and snug,” said Brandon Galarneau with Magic Ice, which is the operator of the Noblesville venue. “If you have too big of a boot it's going to be very uncomfortable, your ankle is going to be bending, you might get a blister so you want them to be very tight.”

Be aware of important shoe size conversions.

“You go two sizes smaller than your shoe size for women and one size smaller if you're a guy. When you put them on you want to loosen them up all the way down the boot – pull the tongue out, slide your foot in there and then tighten from the bottom all the way, keep those ankles nice and tight and you'll have a much better time skating,” Galarneau explained.

Crews have installed cameras that can be viewed online so you can get an idea of crowd size before you go.
