IACS kicks off '12 Days of Strays' promotion for featured adoptable pets

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Indianapolis Animal Care Services is officially kicking off its '12 Days of Strays' promotion starting today, in hopes of finding "fur-ever" homes for some of the animal shelter's longest residents.

Their '12 Days of Strays' promotion is part of the shelter's Home for the Pawlidays campaign. It runs through December 23, and each day one dog and one cat will be the featured animal on the shelter's social media pages.

And, adoption fees for all of the featured animals will be waived. Adoptions for all other animals are just $5 for the entire month of December, and they include a microchip, spay/neuter, vaccinations and heart worm testing.

“Some of these animals have been in the shelter for months. All they want is a nice, warm place to call home for the holidays,” said Katie Trennepohl, Deputy Director of IACS. “Not only do we hope these 24 animals find their forever homes on the same day they are featured, we also hope this encourages people to come down to the shelter to look at all of the other animals in our care waiting for their second chance.”

Adoption hours at the shelter are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is closed on Wednesday.
