Husband and wife attacked by robbers outside Indianapolis apartment complex

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Indianapolis Metro Police Department Robbery Detectives are investigating a robbery and assault on a couple outside their apartment in the middle of the night.

On Nov. 5, as a man and woman removed items from their car outside Pangea Parkwest Apartments on the west side, another vehicle approached their car but kept going.

The driver then turned around at a nearby intersection, returned to their location and that’s when a passenger got out and the driver did too.

Both of the suspects immediately approached the woman and tried to steal her purse. She struggled with them and held onto her purse until her husband came to her aid.

When the husband began fighting with the suspects, a third suspect exited the vehicle and struck the husband in the head with what he believed to be a pipe.

The suspects were able to get away with the wife’s purse before speeding away northbound in the vehicle.

The wife suffered minor scratches to her elbows and arms, as well as pain and swelling to her left hand and left leg. What’s worse is that she believes she may have been struck by the vehicle as it was leaving.

The husband suffered injury and pain to his face, head and ended up with a swollen upper lip.

Paramedics responded to the scene but the husband and wife decided to stay home instead of being transported to the hospital.

IMPD Evidence Technician Officer Madriz took photographs of the scene and the victims.

This is one of two attacks on a couple in 24 hours. The two incidents do not appear to be related.
