LONDON (WTHR) — It's a well known British tradition - teatime.

But what makes the ideal British teatime?

One of the most exclusive hotels in London, the Duke's, outlined the proper way to handle afternoon "royal" tea.

  1. Pick a time from noon to 6 p.m.
  2. Serve your tea in a tea pot or two with cups an saucers
  3. Start with tea sandwiches and other savory snacks as a first course
  4. Second course would be scones
  5. The third and final course is reserved for sweets like cake, biscuits and pastries
  6. Don't be afraid to include cocktails and champagne

Traditional teatime was from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. but has evolved in recent years to cover most of the afternoon.
