INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — One of the old north side Indianapolis arson victims put out a plea for help on the Nextdoor app.

She’s asking for her neighbors who have invested in a home security system with a video camera.

It comes as Indianapolis Fire Department arson Investigators are still trying to identify the person behind multiple fires overnight on July 2, 2019.

The fires happened within blocks of each other on the old north side near 18th and North Talbott streets.

One of the victims, who found her family’s front porch furniture in flames, posted this on Nextdoor.

“On behalf of all the torched property owners, I'm making a plea for more footage. Even if you don't see someone starting one of the fires, could you please contact me if you have a video in the vicinity of one of our homes during the hours of 1a-3:30a in the morning of July 2. I think the investigators are looking for anything at all; maybe they can enhance the images, I don't know. Catching this arsonist is imperative: next time the occupants may not be as lucky as we were. Please and thank you.”

The fire left the victim's house charred with damage to the exterior wall and porch. Fortunately, no one got hurt in the fire.

Firefighters are investigating other suspicious fires set around the same time.

Anyone with suspect information can call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
