INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - A heater fire on the city's southwest side caused heavy damage to an auto body shop.

IFD says the fire started around 8:00 pm Tuesday. Investigators believe a salamander heater caught on fire, and then ignited other nearby flammable materials.

Fire officials say two people were inside at the time. Both got out without injuries.

Additional crews were called after the first-arriving trucks found flames and heavy smoke coming from the building.

IFD says a portion of the building collapsed in the fire.
