HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) — The mother of a 4-month-old child has been charged with murder in the infant's death.

Hammond police say the child was brought to a hospital Tuesday with multiple injuries. The Post-Tribune reports that Lisa Marie Rodriguez of Hammond is in the Lake County jail after being charged with murder and other crimes.

According to The Times of Northwest Indiana, the baby was "lifeless, pale and cold" when Rodriguez brought her to the hospital. The girl also had bruises on her head and upper body.

A forensic pathologist at the Lake County coroner's office found both old and new bruises on the child's torso, as well as a quarter-sized fracture on her skull. The girl's death was caused by blunt force trauma to her head, the coroner's office ruled.

An attorney for Rodriguez isn't listed in the online court file.
