HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) — As rain is on the way across central Indiana this weekend, Hamilton County Emergency Management is offering free sand bags for the county's residents.

The sand bags go along a Hamilton County effort for National Preparedness month. County leaders want residents to have everything they need before they actually need it.

In September, the county is taking part in a challenge called 30 Ways in 30 Days. Each day, leaders are giving away different items and tools to help residents be prepared.

The bags will be available for pickup beginning at 8 a.m. Friday. They will be at Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste in Noblesville.
